The Bay Model

Started in the 1950s to help scientists and politicians understand what were the broader consequences to local decisions about the Bay Area water systems, the Bay Model is now a free educational destination. Housed in a building almost two acres in size, it's a scale model of all the water systems in the Bay Area from the lower bay to Sacramento, an area slightly larger than the entire state of Rhode Island. Sadly almost empty, it was a great place to take the kids on a rainy Saturday. Porter ran around the entire place and Alice got to stretch her legs as well.

The Golden Gate Bridge.
