Crash Course
Another thing we're exploring with Porter is sensory issues. Sarah can talk more about what that means since she's read the Out of Sync Child which details a lot of what we think may be going on with Porter. A therapist we met with noticed some potential sensory processing signs Porter exhibited when she met with us and recommended another pedatric therapist to talk to about it. After weeks of trying to get her number and then speak to her, we finally talked to the therapist today. We have a first appointment set up for April 8.
In the meantime, she suggested we try what she termed a "crash course" to help Porter with some sensory issues. We set up a mound of pillows which Porter then runs toward from the other side of the room and jumps onto the pillows. He absolutely loved it and did it over and over again! And it did seem to help improve his mood.

Here's a Quicktime movie of Porter running to the crash course. You can either download the movie to your desktop or just click on the link to play it in your web browser (assuming your web browser has the quicktime plug-in installed). You can also see Alice sitting in the background on the left.
